In the MAYA studio, we create hand-crafted surfacing materials in an age of technology. Our modern factory is inspired by 18th century workshops, with long painting tables, stencils, drying racks and rolls of paper. The beauty of our wallcoverings comes from the materials themselves and the artisans whose hands painstakingly touch the surface. The Romanoff Studio seldom uses machinery; instead it relies on the skills of its artisans and paints, dyes and fabrics.
We encourage visitors to see our studio first-hand. Those who come for a tour are awed by the magic that they experience. One visitor marveled, “I just didn’t know this handwork was still being done in America.”
