Maya Romanoff Debuts New York Showroom in Manhattan's D&D Building

January 2012 (New York) – Maya Romanoff, the largest manufacturer of handcrafted wallcoverings in the USA, continues to break new ground with their showroom opening in Manhattan’s D&D Building, projected for January 2012. This exciting event immediately follows the launch of their first flagship showroom at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago unveiled this past February.
The 750-square foot space on the 9th floor will have design elements akin to the Maya Romanoff Merchandise Mart showroom, but on a more intimate scale. Tom Marquardt, Principal of Marquardt+ formerly Design Collaboratives, will be responsible for the design and implementation of the New York showroom, and will utilize a creative approach comparable to the one he used in the Chicago showroom project.
The large-scale product displays utilized in Marquardt’s design of the showrooms allow guests to become completely immersed in the materials, says Joyce Romanoff, President of Maya Romanoff Corp. “Visitors gain a wholly different understanding of the impact of our wallcoverings and fabrics. It is a joy to welcome architects, designers and their clients who have known us for years, but now get a completely different sense of what it is like to live with our materials.”
Maya Romanoff, renowned for extraordinary surfaces since 1969, is launching new products with this opening, including Gilded Cloth™, a versatile new design that combines the attention-grabbing beauty of gold and silver leafing with the flexibility and texture of canvas backing, Kyoto Weaves™, a new, lighter weight woven hemp product with a modern all-over swirl pattern, Island Weaves™, a re-imagination of their popular collection with 22 fresh, new patterns of paperbacked woven paper and jute, and Flexi Mother of Pearl Chevron™ and Mosaic™, two new patterns in their line of stunning flexible capiz shell surfacing material.
